“Fresh ideas created by young public officials are changing the future of Gapyeong.”

Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province (Governor Seo Tae-won) is creating a “livable Gapyeong” by reflecting the creative ideas of the younger generation in county administration. To this end, the county announced on the 2nd that it held the inauguration ceremony of the “3rd Gapyeong-gun MZ Panel” on the 26th of last month and will officially operate a policy development project for about five months.

The MZ Panel is a policy development organization composed of public officials born in the 1990s and 2000s belonging to the county, and it has led administrative innovation in Gapyeong-gun based on fresh and ingenious ideas. Since its first operation in 2023, policies that have been actually reflected in county administration have emerged, recognizing its achievements. This year, 25 panel members will participate to autonomously discover policies and seek practical solutions through lectures and workshops.

In particular, considering that about 35% of all public officials in Gapyeong-gun were born in the 1990s and 2000s, the county is expanding various communication channels that can actively reflect the opinions of young public officials. In June, a final evaluation of the policy tasks proposed by the panel will be conducted, and awards will be given for outstanding tasks.

Deputy Governor Kim Mi-seong said at the inauguration ceremony, “The MZ public officials of Gapyeong-gun are key talents who will lead the future of Gapyeong,” and added, “I hope they will contribute to the development of county administration with an objective perspective and creative ideas.”

A Gapyeong-gun official said, “We will actively support the policies discovered by the MZ Panel so that they can lead to substantial regional development,” and added, “The innovative perspectives of the younger generation are expected to play a major role in transforming Gapyeong-gun into an even more livable city.”
