The hobby and leisure programs are designed for senior citizens. To support the senior generation's education, the ‘Yongsan Youth School’ offers pencil portrait drawing and balloon art classes to help seniors relax in their daily lives and plan their second life.

In the digital competency enhancement category, introductory courses on AI ChatGPT basics and drone piloting basics are offered. These introductory courses on AI and drone technology, key technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution, aim to bridge the digital divide and improve work application skills.

The expert category includes learning-type job courses such as qualification courses for education specialist instructors for borderline intellectual functioning (slow learners) and qualification courses for professional YouTube creator instructors. By supporting qualification acquisition courses that combine theory and practice, these programs help improve new job skills.

The talent-sharing programs are offered through the ‘Seorosero School,’ which has been operating since 2015. Seorosero School means that resident instructors and students teach and learn from each other while sharing talents. Five courses are available: completing drawing artworks, basics of everyday taxes, brush pen emotional calligraphy, proper walking, and flower classes. All applications can be made online through the Yongsan-gu Education Comprehensive Portal.

District Mayor Park Hee-young said, “We have prepared various lifelong education programs to respond to the changing educational environment and residents' needs,” adding, “We will continue to actively discover customized educational welfare projects for the happy lives of our residents.”

Meanwhile, since being first designated as a lifelong learning city by the Ministry of Education in 2016, Yongsan-gu has achieved remarkable results in lifelong education, including UNESCO Global Learning City certification (2018), joining the International Association of Education Cities (2022), re-designation as a lifelong learning city by the Ministry of Education (2023), and receiving the ‘Policy Award’ at the Lifelong Learning City Good Policy Awards (2024).
