Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization held the ‘2025 Gyeonggi Dullegil Samiljeol Walking Event’ on March 1st at the Pyeongtaek 3·1 Movement Memorial Square.
The event was planned to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day by reflecting on the meaning of the independence movement and encouraging participants to walk historical sites. A total of 200 participants from across the country joined the event.
The Pyeongtaek 3·1 Movement Memorial Square, the gathering place for the walking event, is a historic site where over 6,000 residents held a March 9, 1919, independence demonstration. On this day, participants started from the memorial square and walked part of Course 45 of the Gyeonggi Dullegil, with Pyeongtaek Lake as the backdrop, for about two and a half hours, reflecting on the spirit of the independence movement.
Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization plan to launch various programs commemorating the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day, starting with this Gyeonggi Dullegil walking event. Through this, they expect to not only revitalize tourism by utilizing historical sites but also provide residents with opportunities for living history education.

Jang Hyang-jeong, Director of the Tourism Industry Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, "The Gyeonggi Dullegil is not just a walking trail but a path where you can directly experience history and culture amidst beautiful nature." She added, "Through this March 1st walking event, we hope many residents will follow the footsteps of the independence movement, reflect on the meaning of the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day, and experience the ecological, cultural, and historical values of the Gyeonggi Dullegil."
The Gyeonggi Dullegil is a long-distance eco-friendly walking trail along the outskirts of Gyeonggi Province, where one can experience beautiful scenery, history, culture, and ecological resources on foot. It starts at Daemyeong Port, where visitors can enjoy the fresh vitality of life and the atmosphere of the sea, and makes a full circle around the outskirts of Gyeonggi Province, covering a total length of 860 km.
The Dullegil, created through cooperation between Gyeonggi Province and 15 cities and counties, consists of 60 courses divided into four zones reflecting the characteristics of the trails: the ‘Peace Nuri-gil,’ connecting walking paths along the DMZ outskirts; the ‘Forest Trail,’ featuring green forests and valleys; the ‘Water Trail,’ where one can walk along rivers and wide fields; and the ‘Mudflat Trail,’ offering the charm of clean seas and mudflats.
