New Chairman of the Board at Seoul Arts Center: Gu Ja-yeol, Chairman of LS Group Board

Gu Ja-yeol, Chairman of the LS Board of Directors, will serve as the Chairman of the Seoul Arts Center.

On the 28th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced the appointment of Gu Ja-yeol, Chairman of the LS Board of Directors, as the Chairman of the Seoul Arts Center. The term of the new Chairman Gu Ja-yeol is three years, until February 27, 2028. The Chairman of the Seoul Arts Center convenes the board meetings and presides over them.

Since joining LG Sangsa as an entry-level employee in 1978, the new Chairman Gu Ja-yeol has participated in corporate management as a trade expert for over 40 years. He served as Chairman of the LS Group for eight years from 2013 and currently serves as Chairman of the LS Board of Directors.

Chairman Gu has shown a deep affection for culture and the arts and has served as the organizing chairman of the Korea International Art Fair (Kiaf) since 2022. He is also engaged in various social contribution projects as Chairman of the Songgang Foundation. Additionally, he has been the editor-in-chief of the travel quarterly magazine 'Bobodam' for 15 years.

Minister Yoo In-chon stated, "Marking its 37th anniversary this year, the Seoul Arts Center is not only a venue showcasing top-level performances but also a complex cultural space used by over 2 million people annually. We expect the new Chairman to leverage his extensive management expertise gained from domestic and international industries, as well as his deep passion for performances, exhibitions, and travel, to help the Seoul Arts Center become more beloved by the public and grow into a world-class art space."
