Hong Giwol, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council (Gwangju Dong-gu 1, The Minjoo Party of Korea), received the Grand Prize at the 16th Local Autonomy Management Awards for Metropolitan Council Legislative Activities, held on the 27th at the Gwangju Yeomju Gymnasium Olympic Memorial National Sports Center.

The Local Autonomy Management Awards are presented to local governments and metropolitan council members who have made innovative efforts to improve the quality of life for local residents, enhance regional competitiveness, and realize local autonomy.

Hong was highly recognized for her legislative activities aimed at revitalizing the local economy, including the first-ever ordinance in the country, the "Establishment and Operation of Regional Industrial Crisis Response System Ordinance," as well as ordinances for "Night Tourism Promotion" and "Maintenance of Long-Abandoned Construction Sites."

She also took the lead in creating a stable and future-oriented region by spearheading initiatives such as the "Establishment of Gwangju Urban Museum" and "Improvement Plans for Local Public Building Design," along with addressing local issues through "Revitalization of Jisan Amusement Park" and "Expansion of Support for Local People with Disabilities."

In particular, through administrative audits, she actively urged proactive and dynamic administration by proposing measures such as establishing dedicated organizations for serious industrial accidents at public enterprises like Gwangju Urban Railroad Corporation, expanding programs to save small schools, and opening school parking lots on weekends.

Hong stated, "I am fully committed to legislative activities that involve seeing more, listening more, and researching more in order to realize a society where all citizens are happy and the community develops," adding, "I will continue to diligently identify and address on-site issues throughout the region."
