Once the Jinryang Hi-Pass IC is completed, workers in the industrial complex and local residents who currently use the existing Gyeongsan IC will be able to utilize the new IC together, which is expected to significantly improve traffic congestion around the Gyeongsan IC area.
The Hi-Pass IC, to be constructed in the Muncheon-ri and Damun-ri areas of Jinryang-eup, will involve a total project cost of 30 billion KRW and will be installed as a mainline-type Hi-Pass exclusive IC allowing entry and exit on both the northbound and southbound lanes of the Gyeongbu Expressway.
This project is being promoted by the Korea Expressway Corporation and will proceed through close cooperation with Gyeongsan City.
Cho Hyun-il, mayor of Gyeongsan City, stated, “With the Jinryang Hi-Pass IC installation project moving forward in earnest, highway usage is expected to become smoother,” adding, “We will closely consult with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Expressway Corporation to ensure that the planned Gyeongsan-Ulsan highway project proceeds without any setbacks.”
About 150 people, including Mayor Cho Hyun-il of Gyeongsan, National Assembly member Jo Ji-yeon, City Council Chairman Ahn Moon-gil, city and provincial council members, Korea Expressway Corporation officials, and local residents, attended the groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of the project.
