The automobile industry in Gwangju has united. Complete vehicle manufacturers, parts suppliers, and related organizations have pledged to form a strong partnership to make the "Gwangju mobility industry accelerate forward."

On the 27th, the city of Gwangju held the "Gwangju Mobility Singsingsing Innovation Commitment Ceremony" at the Kimdaejung Convention Center.

Under the theme "Right here, right now, Gwangju Mobility Singsingsing Innovation Begins," the event was attended by over 300 people, including Mayor Kang Gijung, Moon Jaeung, Plant Manager of Kia Autoland Gwangju, Yoon Monghyun, CEO of Gwangju Global Motors (GGM), Lim Gicheol, President of Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), Yang Jinseok, Chairman of the Gwangju Employers Federation, Hong Jongui, Chairman of the Future Mobility Industry-Academia-Research Council, Kim Seongjin, President of the Gwangju Future Car Mobility Promotion Institute, as well as representatives from complete vehicle manufacturers, auto parts companies, and related organizations.

Amid predictions that the U.S. government's tariff policies will shrink automobile exports and the industry, complete vehicle manufacturers, parts suppliers, and related organizations in Gwangju have resolved to unite and strengthen the competitiveness of the local automotive industry, aiming to further develop Gwangju as a hub for mobility production. They also celebrated the selection of the Gwangju Future Car National Industrial Complex as a national strategic project, marking the start of full-scale development.

"Singsingsing" is derived from the first syllables of the English words "Think, Sync, Things." The first "Sing" stands for "Mobility of Think," meaning "thinking mobility"; the second "Sing" represents "Mobility of Sync," meaning "hyper-connected mobility"; and the third "Sing" denotes "Mobility of Things," meaning "everything that moves." The commitment is for Gwangju to race forward and grow as a global future mobility hub city.

A signing ceremony for the "Gwangju Mobility Innovation Joint Cooperation Resolution" for the development of the local mobility industry was held. Eleven companies and organizations, including the city of Gwangju, Kia Autoland Gwangju, Gwangju Global Motors (GGM), six parts suppliers, the Gwangju Employers Federation, and the Gwangju Future Car Mobility Promotion Institute, signed the resolution.

The city will actively discover various projects to expand infrastructure and support for future car-related companies. Complete vehicle manufacturers will establish close cooperative relationships with local parts suppliers. Parts suppliers will work with complete vehicle manufacturers to enhance technological capabilities and competitiveness, while related organizations in the mobility industry will strengthen technical capabilities through tailored support for companies.

In particular, ten mobility-related organizations held an "Integrated Information Session for Corporate Support Projects by Related Organizations," which covered all mobility support projects to be carried out this year and received a great response from companies.

The session shared practical support measures such as financial support, commercialization support, and marketing assistance to address the difficulties faced by parts suppliers, and served as a promotion platform for this year's national funding competitions and policy fund support.

Participating organizations in the integrated session included the Gwangju Future Car Mobility Promotion Institute, Gwangju Technopark, Korea SMEs and Startups Agency Gwangju Regional Office, Korea Institute of Industrial Technology Southwest Technology Commercialization Center, Gwangju Free Economic Zone Authority, Artificial Intelligence Industry Convergence Project Group, Korea Transportation Safety Authority Automobile Safety Research Institute, Gwangju Industry-Academia Convergence Institute, and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The city plans to provide companies with development, testing, and evaluation infrastructure for mobility, supporting parts suppliers in enhancing quality and technological capabilities. In addition, it will actively discover and promote new support projects for companies in connection with specialized complexes such as the Future Car National Industrial Complex.

A video titled "Gwangju Achieving Mobility Innovation," which presents a blueprint for Gwangju's new mobility city, also drew attention. It showcased Gwangju's vision for fostering the mobility industry, moving from a "City of Opportunity" to a "City of Success" through accumulated infrastructure, the establishment of the new Future Car National Industrial Complex, its designation as a national strategic project, the designation of the specialized complex for autonomous vehicle parts and materials, and the Opportunity Development Zone.

Mayor Kang stated, "Although we are facing various crises such as the U.S. tariff policy, this event gives us the confidence that we can overcome any wave of crisis. With companies like Kia Autoland Gwangju and Gwangju Global Motors and related organizations joining forces, if we work together rather than alone, crisis will become opportunity. We will ambitiously pursue everything, including research and development and talent cultivation, to firmly establish ourselves as a future mobility city."
