Gokseong County in Jeollanam-do (Governor Cho Sangrae) announced on the 27th that it received the Grand Prize in the Creative Innovation, Culture & Tourism, and Health & Welfare categories at the 16th Gwangju-Jeonnam Local Government Management Awards.
The Gwangju-Jeonnam Local Government Management Awards, hosted by Gwangnam Ilbo and sponsored by Gwangju City and Jeollanam-do Province, select and honor local governments among the 27 cities, counties, and districts in Gwangju and Jeonnam that have achieved outstanding results in administrative innovation, driving the local economy, and enhancing residents' welfare.
Gokseong County was honored with the Grand Prize in recognition of its excellent administrative operations and resident-centered policy achievements in the fields of creative innovation, culture & tourism, and health & welfare in this evaluation.
In the Creative Innovation category, the county was recognized for actively developing new initiatives such as: ▲the nation's first pediatric outreach medical service ▲automatic building number assignment after construction completion ▲a customized family-stay study abroad complex for rural students ▲large-scale regional vitality projects through breaking down silos and promoting collaboration.
In the Culture & Tourism category, the county was acknowledged as a national model for: ▲establishing a living culture ecosystem ▲opening the Gokseong Children's Library ▲hosting a publication event for seniors' life stories ▲the Hwangto-gil (yellow soil road) at Ttukbang Ecological Park, a health and healing attraction ▲selection of Seomjingang Train Village as an outstanding special zone for regional development.
In the Health & Welfare category, high marks were given for: ▲operating a smart crisis household task force to identify welfare blind spots ▲the first and only milk voucher support for low-income children and youth in Jeonnam ▲agri-food voucher support ▲opening regional health promotion centers ▲one-stop services for creating a childbirth-friendly environment, all of which contributed to expanding customized support for vulnerable groups and improving residents' welfare.
Jeong Changmo, Deputy Governor, who attended the award ceremony, said, "This award is the result of policies created together with our residents achieving meaningful outcomes," adding, "We will continue to develop various initiatives and strive for resident-centered innovative administration."
