At the ceremony, Chairman Choi said, "I am deeply moved to congratulate the 12th Unhae scholarship students at the beginning of spring, which symbolizes youth," and added, "This precious meeting today is an immense happiness and fulfillment for me, who has lived as a businessman for half a century."
He continued, "The driving force that transformed Korea from the world's poorest country through developing country status to an advanced nation today is the great DNA and spirit of challenge of the Korean people, which grows stronger in times of crisis," explaining, "This made possible the rapid growth of the Korean economy and the Miracle on the Han River, which the world envies, from an industrial and technological wasteland."
"Korea's semiconductor, automobile, shipbuilding, and energy technology sectors are already leading the global market, and the defense industry has led the K-defense boom within half a century since pursuing self-reliant defense in 1973," he said. "Beyond the rapid growth of industry and technology, Korea has also proven its excellence in the humanities, the source of imagination, contributing to the globalization of K-culture," he added.
Chairman Choi emphasized, "Our Unhae scholarship students, the future leaders, must continue bold challenges toward becoming a G2 beyond an advanced Korea," and said, "I hope you creatively inherit the great DNA of the Korean people and build a great Korea together with G1 America in the fields of economy, national defense and security, technology, and culture and arts."
He also said, "With your creative imagination and strong spirit of challenge, you can surely grow into great Koreans leading the world," and added, "That is the heart of the Unhae Scholarship Foundation, supporting the noble challenges of Korea's youth."
