Applications for Hearing Aid and Walker Support Accepted Until April 11
Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) announced on the 27th that it is actively promoting this year’s ‘Senior Medical Assistive Devices (hearing aids, walkers) Support Project’ to support the active elderly lifestyle.
This project provides financial support for the purchase of hearing aids and adult walkers to seniors aged 65 and older in the region who suffer from hearing loss or mobility difficulties and experience inconvenience in daily life but have not received welfare equipment support.
The county established the first support ordinance in Busan through the proposal of the county council ordinance in 2023 and has been carrying out the project since 2024. This year, approximately 123 million KRW in budget has been fully secured by the county to accelerate the project.
The eligible recipients this year are seniors aged 65 or older who have had their resident registration address in Gijang-gun for more than one year as of March 4, 2025, and currently continue to reside there. The application period is from March 4 to April 11, and applications can be submitted to the administrative welfare centers in their respective towns and townships.
However, applicants must meet the eligibility criteria for each item, and those who have already received hearing aids or adult walkers through related laws or other support projects are excluded from eligibility.
The county plans to finalize the selection of 100 hearing aid recipients and 20 adult walker recipients by the end of April after verifying duplicate benefits and other procedures for applicants. Selected recipients will receive actual purchase cost support up to a maximum of 1,179,000 KRW per hearing aid and up to 250,000 KRW per adult walker.
Jeong Jong-bok, Governor of Gijang-gun, said, “We hope that seniors facing difficulties in daily life will receive support for hearing aids and walkers and actively engage in social activities within the community,” adding, “We will continue to promote various projects for senior welfare in the future.”
For detailed eligibility criteria, inquiries can be made to the welfare team at the administrative welfare center of the resident’s address or the Senior Welfare Team of the Gijang-gun Senior and Disabled Welfare Division.
