Available at Eup, Myeon, and Dong Administrative Welfare Centers
Dangjin City, Chungnam Province, announced on the 27th that from the 28th, mobile resident registration card issuance services will be available at the Eup, Myeon, and Dong Administrative Welfare Centers.
The mobile resident registration card is a digital version of the resident registration card that is securely stored on a personal mobile phone and holds the same legal validity as the physical card. It can be used at administrative and financial institutions, hospitals, and more.
The issuance methods are divided into QR code issuance and integrated circuit (IC) resident registration card issuance. To apply, users must first install the "Korea Mobile ID" app under their own name before issuance.
For QR code issuance, applicants must bring their physical resident registration card to the Administrative Welfare Center, scan the QR code for mobile resident registration issuance, and receive the card immediately at no cost.
However, if the mobile phone is changed or the physical resident registration card is lost, reissuance must be done by visiting the Administrative Welfare Center.
For IC resident registration card issuance, an IC chip-embedded physical resident registration card is issued, which can then be registered as a mobile resident registration card by tapping it to the personal mobile phone. A certificate photo taken within the past six months is required.
The total cost is 10,000 KRW, which includes the IC chip (5,000 KRW) and reissuance of the physical resident registration card (5,000 KRW). However, first-time applicants for the resident registration card can apply free of charge.
Any Dangjin citizen aged 17 or older who has been issued a resident registration card can apply for the mobile card at the administrative welfare center in their jurisdiction until March 27.
According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's phased expansion plan, from March 28, issuance applications can be made at any administrative welfare center nationwide, regardless of registered address.
A city official stated, "The issuance of mobile resident registration cards, which have the same legal validity as physical cards, will greatly improve convenience," and added, "We will ensure that citizens can safely and conveniently receive their mobile resident registration cards."
