DYD announced on the 27th that it has signed a business agreement with Kangwon National University and medical device manufacturer MIJ to jointly research bio semiconductors. DYD, which is preparing to produce semiconductor wafers for glycated albumin diagnostic kits, plans to collaborate with Kangwon National University to cultivate semiconductor specialists through this agreement.

The three participating institutions agreed to mutually cooperate in building and nurturing the semiconductor ecosystem, establishing customized educational programs, exchanging research personnel, mutually utilizing research results and technologies, and operating consultative bodies for industry-academia cooperation. They also plan to jointly host semiconductor-related seminars, workshops, and academic conferences.

DYD recently completed the development of semiconductors for glycated albumin diagnostic kits and is preparing to establish a production base for manufacturing the product. This product integrates next-generation technologies such as semiconductor surface technology and antibody conjugation technology, serving as a core component that can measure glycated albumin through saliva in just one minute. While existing diagnostic kits adhered antibodies to membranes, DYD’s developed diagnostic kit adheres them to semiconductor wafers.

A DYD representative stated, “Sufficient personnel are needed to activate the bio semiconductor production base,” adding, “This agreement aims to cultivate specialized personnel through joint research in the semiconductor field. We will strive to ensure that DYD’s bio semiconductor business progresses well through close industry-academia cooperation.”

Meanwhile, Kangwon National University has been actively fostering the semiconductor industry ecosystem, launching the Semiconductor Specialized University Project Group and Semiconductor Joint Research Institute in November last year. The Semiconductor Specialized University and Semiconductor Joint Research Institute are government-supported projects promoted by the Ministry of Education to create excellent semiconductor educational environments and cultivate talent, with Kangwon National University selected last July.
