Cumulative Sales Reach 50 Billion Units Since 1974 Launch
Cumulative Revenue Hits 8 Trillion KRW, Overseas Sales Account for 67% of Total
Orion announced on the 27th that the global sales volume of 'Choco Pie Jeong (情)' exceeded 4 billion units last year. This is the largest scale ever. The sales amount reached 580 billion KRW. Choco Pie was launched in 1974 and celebrated its 50th anniversary last year.
The cumulative sales volume surpassed 50 billion units, and cumulative revenue exceeded 8 trillion KRW. Overseas sales accounted for 5.5 trillion KRW, representing 67% of the total. Orion stated, "Choco Pie is the driving force behind the company's growth into a global food company," adding, "The localization strategy tailored to each country's culture and trends, based on decades of overseas business experience, has been effective."
Choco Pie is sold in a total of 24 varieties across more than 60 countries worldwide. In China, Vietnam, Russia, and India, local production facilities have been established to actively target overseas markets.
In China, Choco Pie ranked first seven times in the 'China Customer Recommendation Index' pie category, announced by a leading Chinese brand evaluation agency. This index measures customers' willingness to recommend the brand, reflecting customer trust and loyalty. In Vietnam, it holds the number one market share in the local pie market and is regarded as a "national snack." Choco Pie is even placed on ancestral ritual tables.
In Russia, demand is high, with 1.6 billion units sold last year, accounting for 40% of global Choco Pie sales. Reflecting local food culture, products using jam have been introduced, and the overseas subsidiary produces and sells the largest variety of 12 types of Choco Pie. In India, differentiated products combining strawberry, the most preferred flavor by locals, and mango, the number one fruit in consumption, have been launched.
An Orion official said, "We will continue to develop Orion Choco Pie into a product enjoyed by people worldwide, including its unique emotional value."
