On the 26th (local time), Jeollanam-do signed a memorandum of understanding at the Hyatt Hotel in San Francisco, USA, with Fir Hills, Seonamhaean Enterprise City Development Co., and Haenam County to establish the 'Solaseado AI Supercluster Hub.'

About 50 people attended the signing ceremony, including Kim Yungrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, Myung Hyunkwan, Mayor of Haenam County, Amin Badr-El-Din, Co-Chairman of Fir Hills, and Koh Hyungkwon, Vice Chairman of BS (Boseong) Industries.

According to the agreement, a total of 15 trillion KRW will be invested?7 trillion KRW by 2028 and 8 trillion KRW by 2030?to create an 'AI Supercluster Hub' with a capacity of over 3GW, the world's largest, on a 1.2 million pyeong area in Guseong District, Sanim-myeon, Haenam, Jeollanam-do.

AI computing infrastructure, data centers, and large-scale ESS are planned to be established. In particular, the AI computing infrastructure to be built here will serve as a training center for AI model research and training, requiring much more power than conventional data centers.

The 'AI Supercluster Hub' to be established in Solaseado will have a capacity of over 3GW, far surpassing the 2.5GW in Northern Virginia, USA, and the 1.8GW in Beijing, China, making it the largest in the world.

Stock Farm Road (SFR, holding company) and Fir Hills (subsidiary), which are promoting this project, plan to increase the feasibility of investment by connecting networks of big tech and global investors from Silicon Valley and other regions with the optimal conditions of Jeollanam-do's vast land, abundant electricity and water, talent, seismic stability, and realization of renewable energy 100 (RE100) as an 'AI Supercluster Hub.'

Funding will be raised through fundraising from big tech and investment firms, and investment attraction will be pursued. Jeollanam-do plans to accelerate the construction of a 154kV substation within Solaseado Enterprise City by 2028, two years ahead of the original schedule, and actively support the establishment of essential infrastructure such as communications and water supply to ensure the project's success. Administrative and financial support will also be provided, taking into account relevant laws and the progress of investments.

Governor Kim Yungrok stated, "Through this agreement, Jeollanam-do has not only created an opportunity to emerge as a center of the AI industry, but also increased the feasibility of investment by actively attracting global big tech companies such as Alphabet and MS. We will do our utmost to contribute to Korea's resurgence and the development of the global AI industry in the era of AI transformation."

Jeollanam-do will proceed with follow-up schedules to attract big tech companies so that this memorandum of understanding leads to actual investment. On the 27th, local time in the US, Governor Kim Yungrok is scheduled to meet with John Hennessy, Chairman of Alphabet, Sam Schillace, Deputy CTO of MS, and Steve Westley, Chairman of the Westley Group.
