Gangnam-gu Receives 'Highest Grade' in Data-Driven Administration Evaluation

Significantly Exceeds Local Government Average with a Score of 97 out of 100
Local Government Average Stands at 63.5 Points

Gangnam-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) has achieved the highest rating of "Excellent" for the first time in the "2024 Data-Driven Administration Evaluation" hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

The Data-Driven Administration Evaluation is a process that assesses the data-driven administrative capabilities of a total of 679 institutions, including central administrative agencies, local governments, public institutions, and public enterprises.


Data-driven administration refers to an administration that is conducted objectively and scientifically by utilizing data collected, stored, processed, analyzed, and presented by public institutions or acquired from other public institutions and corporate organizations for policy formulation and decision-making.


The district scored 97 out of 100 points in the evaluation based on 10 indicators across three areas: data analysis and utilization, sharing, and management systems. This result significantly exceeds the average score of all institutions (59.5 points) and the average score of local governments (63.5 points). Additionally, Gangnam-gu demonstrated outstanding capabilities by receiving perfect scores in 8 of the 10 evaluation indicators, including "Performance in Discovering Data Analysis Tasks" and "Compliance Rate of Shared Data Registration."


To promote data-driven administration, Gangnam-gu has been making various efforts such as digital public-private cooperation open innovation, public data utilization and analysis idea contests, and discovering data analysis tasks within the institution.


Representative examples include identifying priority areas for closed-circuit television (CCTV) installation using resident population and 119 emergency call data, analyzing festival effects through living population data from the Gangnam Festival, and analyzing civil complaint data by neighborhood. These data and analysis results are being introduced and utilized throughout the district administration.


District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong stated, “Gangnam-gu has been actively promoting a data-driven administration system that improves the convenience of residents’ lives by actively utilizing data collected throughout the region,” and added, “We will continue to actively analyze and utilize public data and reflect it in policies to solidify our position as the world’s leading smart city.”
