At the review meeting, more than 20 members of the Barrier-Free City Promotion Committee attended and deliberated and resolved on the 3rd Basic Plan for a Barrier-Free City and the 2025 Annual Plan.

Jinju City Promotes Creation of a 'Disability-Friendly City for All to Enjoy' Jinju City is conducting a review meeting for the 'Barrier-Free City Basic Plan' and the '2025 Annual Plan'.

The 3rd Basic Plan was set with three goals under the vision of ‘Jinju, a barrier-free city enjoyed by all’: ▲ a livable barrier-free city for people with disabilities ▲ a harmonious city where everyone participates ▲ a cultural tourism city enjoyed by all. To achieve these goals, the city organized 22 detailed projects based on nine key core strategies, including supplementing the projects from the 1st and 2nd phases, reflecting citizens’ needs, creating a tangible barrier-free (Good Friend) living environment, and establishing an open tourism and arts environment.

This basic plan was established based on the ‘3rd Basic Plan for a Barrier-Free City and Barrier-Free Environment Establishment Research Service’ conducted over five months starting in June 2024. In particular, beyond the physical and spatial barrier-free environment construction focused on in the 2nd Basic Plan, the city plans to promote comprehensive disability-friendly policies centered on social and cultural awareness improvement and user demand.

A Jinju City official emphasized, “Through this basic plan, we plan to actively implement policies so that a barrier-free living environment can naturally permeate daily life,” adding, “Citizens and the administration will work together to create a disability-friendly city.”

Meanwhile, since declaring itself a ‘Barrier-Free City’ in July 2012, Jinju City has steadily carried out related projects, and through this 3rd Basic Plan, it plans to build an advanced ‘Jinju-type disability-friendly city’ model.
