Issuance of 8% Discount Gift Certificates
and Gift Certificate Gifting Campaigns
Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced on the 26th that it will establish and implement the ‘Expanded Plan for Revitalizing the Local Economy to Stabilize People’s Livelihoods’ to support small business owners struggling due to the economic downturn and reduced consumption.
Last year, Eunpyeong-gu implemented various policies to revive the local economy, which had become rigid due to the impeachment political situation. The district plans to further expand measures to revitalize the local economy, stimulate domestic demand, and strengthen support for small business owners.
Starting next month, the Eunpyeong Livelihood Recovery Gift Certificate will be issued, offering up to an 8% discount benefit. This plan allows purchasing the gift certificate at a 5% discount and receiving 3% cashback on the amount spent using the certificate, resulting in a total 8% discount benefit.
In exchange for providing these benefits, the consumption period will be shortened to one year to encourage rapid use of the gift certificates, thereby injecting vitality into the stagnant domestic economy. Additionally, the delivery-only gift certificate called Eunpyeong Ttaenggyeoyo Gift Certificate will be issued in full during the first half of the year with a 15% discount. The ‘Eunpyeong Love Gift Certificate Gifting’ campaign will also be promoted, encouraging the gifting of local gift certificates instead of gifticons for occasions such as celebrations and condolences.
Furthermore, support for small business owners will not be spared. A white paper detailing small business support projects will be produced, and briefing sessions on various public contest projects and support methods will be held. The discovery of new ‘Good Price Stores’ will be expanded, and events offering gifticons to residents who use these stores will be conducted. The use of Onnuri Gift Certificates will be expanded to the Yeonsinnae shopping district area.
Cultural events to revitalize the local commercial district will also be promoted. Various events will be planned in cooperation with nearby traditional markets and local merchants at the Yeonsinnae Station complex plaza of the metropolitan area high-speed railway (GTX)-A line, which will be completed this spring.
Mayor Kim Mi-kyung said, “This plan focuses not on one-time support but on enabling the local economy to sustain a virtuous cycle continuously,” adding, “We will devote all efforts to practical economic revitalization measures that residents can directly feel.”
