SDT Signs Agreement to Establish Quantum Intelligence Center in Malaysia

Leading the Overall Quantum Industry in Malaysia

Quantum standard technology specialist SDT announced on the 26th that it has signed a cooperation agreement with Malaysia's MIMOS to establish Malaysia's first superconducting quantum computer and to promote the overall development of the quantum technology industry. MIMOS is a national R&D center under the Malaysian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, leading research and development to advance the country's digital infrastructure and technological innovation.

SDT, together with Anion Technologies, plans to begin the initial supply of a 20-qubit superconducting quantum computer to Malaysia's Quantum Intelligence Center (QIC) within this year, and aims to build a system with over 1,000 qubits by 2030. Additionally, through a joint venture, they will continuously deliver and install advanced quantum equipment, including 30 ultra-low temperature coolers, by 2030. Alongside this, cooperation for quantum software and human resource development between the two countries will also be actively pursued.

Yoon Ji-won, CEO of SDT, stated, “With the proclamation of the establishment of Malaysia's QIC and the signing of the cooperation agreement, we have laid the foundation to strengthen quantum technology collaboration between the two countries and to become a leading power within the global quantum ecosystem. Globally, there are not many companies leading the quantum business with a manufacturing focus, so SDT has the opportunity to solidify its position as a leading manufacturer in the quantum field. Moving forward, we will faithfully serve as a bridge connecting industries and research institutions between the two countries, and based on innovative quantum technology development and strategic partnerships, we will strengthen our leadership in the global quantum industry market.”
