Gwangju Dong-gu (District Chief Lim Taek) announced on the 24th that it will implement the "2025 Museum and Art Museum Revitalization Support Project" to promote local culture and arts.
This project is designed to revitalize museums and art museums that develop and operate differentiated content and programs, and to provide residents with opportunities to enjoy culture and the arts.
The public offering targets private museums or art museums registered in the region under the "Museum and Art Museum Promotion Act," with support of up to 4 million KRW per institution.
The support areas are twofold: planning exhibitions linked to resident participation programs, and the production of art merchandise connected to hands-on events for residents.
Applications are open until March 4, and after a document review, the final support recipients will be selected in early March.
Lim Taek, the district chief, said, "Dong-gu is especially rich in cultural and artistic resources, as 7 out of Gwangju's 8 registered private art museums are located here. We hope that supporting local private cultural facilities will further invigorate the creative activities of artists and expand opportunities for residents to enjoy culture and the arts."
