Gwangju Seo-gu Council Member Kim Taejin Proposes Ordinance for Senior Employment and Social Activity Support

The Seo-gu Council of Gwangju announced on the 24th that the 'Ordinance on the Full Amendment of the Support for Senior Citizens' Social Activities in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City,' proposed by Councilor Kim Taejin, was passed at the 328th temporary session.

The number of senior jobs in Seo-gu is rapidly increasing every year, from 6,377 in 2024 to 7,257 in 2025. Currently, 5,343 people are participating in 31 public interest projects, 1,183 people in 31 social service projects, and 731 people in 21 private sector projects.


Kim Taejin, a Seo-gu council member, said, "This full amendment was made to promote the health and welfare of senior citizens by supporting their employment and social activities," and added, "To meet the needs of the increasing number of participants every year, it is necessary to create various village-customized jobs and social activities."


The main contents of the ordinance include: ▲ Establishing a support system for activities and jobs that allow senior citizens to contribute to the local community ▲ Providing financial support to companies hiring a certain number of senior citizens ▲ Establishing a basis for preferential purchase of products made by senior citizens ▲ Providing necessary information for supporting senior jobs and social activities ▲ Conducting counseling and education, among others.


Meanwhile, with this full amendment of the ordinance, the 'Senior Jobs and Social Activity Support' policy has become more systematic and legally stable.
