Gyeongnam Pharmaceutical's Tonic Drink 'Jahasaengnyeok-aek' January Sales Up 26% YoY

Gyeongnam Pharmaceutical, a company specializing in over-the-counter drugs, announced on the 24th that the sales of its tonic drink ‘Jahasaengryeok-aek’ in January increased by 26% compared to the same period last year.

Marking its 17th anniversary this year, ‘Jahasaengryeok-aek’ has steadily gained recognition in the industry since its launch, achieving cumulative sales of approximately 82 billion KRW up to last year. In January, the company released a limited edition featuring a blue snake design on the product packaging to celebrate the Year of the Blue Snake.

Jahasaengryeok-aek is an over-the-counter drug containing human placental extract. The placenta is a structure that mediates the exchange of substances necessary for the survival and growth of the fetus between the fetus and the mother. The main ingredient of this product, ‘Jahageo Extract,’ is a raw material extracted only from the water-soluble substances of the placenta.

Jahasaengryeok-aek helps with nourishment and vitality, weak constitution, physical fatigue, decreased physical strength after illness, loss of appetite, nutritional disorders, febrile diseases, and wasting diseases. The recommended dosage for adults is 20mL (one bottle) once a day.

A marketing representative from Gyeongnam Pharmaceutical stated, “Sales seem to have increased as consumer interest in tonics has grown recently due to the spread of viral diseases such as colds and flu,” adding, “We will continue to strive to build trust so that ‘Jahasaengryeok-aek’ can be a brand that takes responsibility for consumers’ health.”

Meanwhile, Jahasaengryeok-aek is available for purchase at pharmacies as an over-the-counter drug.
