Smart Senior Centers and Integrated Care Policies Receive Praise
Strengthening Preparation for a Super-Aged Society with Age-Friendly City Initiatives
Gwangju Buk-gu announced on the 23rd that it was selected as an outstanding local government at the Korea Healthy Age-Friendly City Policy Awards and received a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare.
This award evaluates and recognizes the creative policies and achievements of 226 local governments nationwide based on the eight domains of age-friendly cities suggested by the World Health Organization (WHO): facilities, transportation, housing, employment, care, and health. This year, six organizations, including Buk-gu, were selected as outstanding local governments.
In this evaluation, Buk-gu was recognized for excellence in policies such as creating age-friendly living spaces, implementing smart senior projects, and providing medical and care services for the elderly under the theme of "An Age-Friendly City Where Senior Life Is Happier." In particular, projects such as establishing 40 smart senior centers, providing customized medical and integrated care services for the elderly, and green remodeling of aging senior centers received high praise.
