Yoon's Side: "Corruption Investigation Office Hid Warrant Rejection by Central District Court and Filed at Western District Court"

Yoon's Side to File Complaint Against PCC Chief
"We Will Hold the PCC Accountable for the President's Illegal Detention"

President Yoon Seok-yeol's side revealed on the 21st that the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit (PCC) concealed the fact that it had requested search and seizure warrants and communication warrants against President Yoon from the Seoul Central District Court last year, but they were dismissed. They also claimed that since the PCC used illegal means to arrest President Yoon, the court should cancel the president's detention and release him.

Yoon's Side: "Corruption Investigation Office Hid Warrant Rejection by Central District Court and Filed at Western District Court" Yoon Gap-geun, the legal representative of President Yoon Suk-yeol, is attending the third impeachment trial session of President Yoon Suk-yeol held at the Constitutional Court courtroom in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 21st, responding to reporters' questions.

Yoon Gap-geun, a lawyer for President Yoon Seok-yeol, held a press conference in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, in the afternoon and said, "The president's legal team was able to find this information after going through 70,000 pages of investigation records related to the president," adding, "It was confirmed that the PCC requested search and seizure warrants and communication warrants against the president and related parties from the Seoul Central District Court, but they were dismissed."

He continued, "After being dismissed by the Central District Court, they requested the warrants from the Seoul Western District Court last year. This was a case of warrant shopping," adding, "Among the four dismissed warrants, two were targeted at President Yoon himself." However, he did not explain the reasons for the dismissal of the warrants.

Earlier, the Seoul Western District Court issued both an arrest warrant and a search warrant for President Yoon on the 31st of last month, who is accused of treason under the Criminal Act and obstruction of the exercise of official duties by abuse of power.

Additionally, Lawyer Yoon claimed that the reason the PCC went to the Western District Court instead of the Central District Court was because it is composed of members from the 'Uri Beop Yeon-guhoe' (Our Law Research Association). He said, "They know that only at the Western District Court, which is dominated by members of Uri Beop Yeon-guhoe from the chief judge to the warrant judges, can they obtain warrants. The head of the PCC is also from Uri Beop Yeon-guhoe," emphasizing, "The fact that the investigative agency and the court, both from Uri Beop Yeon-guhoe, used illegal means to arrest and investigate the president is an act of national disorder and constitutes treason."

Lawyer Yoon also explained that the arrest warrant for former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun was also requested by the PCC at the Seoul Central District Court but was dismissed. He stated, "When the PCC re-requested the warrant at the Western District Court, they did not disclose the history of the previous request," and added, "The president's legal team plans to immediately file complaints against the head of the PCC and related parties."
