Gumi City in Gyeongbuk Province is completely reorganizing its city bus routes to enhance the convenience of public transportation for its citizens.
On the 19th, Gumi City held the final report meeting for the city bus route reorganization project, revealing the reorganization direction and major changes.
On the 21st, the city announced that it held the final report meeting for the 'Gumi City Bus Route Reorganization Project' on the 19th at the city hall's main conference room, revealing the reorganization direction and major changes.
About 50 people attended the meeting, including city council members, representatives from companies and educational institutions, transportation experts, and transportation company officials.
The project began in July last year and actively reflected citizens' opinions through online and offline surveys and residents' briefings.
Hwang Jeong-hoon, director of the Future Urban Transportation Research Institute, which conducted the project, explained the main reorganization details.
◆ Key Points of Gumi City Bus Route Reorganization
▲ Adjustment of Bus Intervals: To reduce irregular bus intervals, additional city buses will be deployed, and fixed intervals on major routes will be expanded.
▲ Introduction of Demand-Responsive Buses: Customized transportation services will be provided to improve mobility for residents in eup and myeon areas.
▲ Establishment of Express Routes: Express routes will be added on major sections to enhance convenience for long-distance travel.
▲ Infrastructure Expansion: A public bus depot and expanded transfer facilities will be established in the Gangdong area.
The city plans to implement the reorganization in phases according to the timing of vehicle procurement after finalizing the plan.
Kim Jang-ho, mayor of Gumi City, said, “We have prepared a practical reorganization plan that citizens can feel,” adding, “We will dramatically improve the public transportation environment through the introduction of a super-precise bus information system and the expansion of dust-blocking bus stops.”
