Checking installation of guidance signage and more by the end of June
Seo-gu District in Gwangju will conduct a comprehensive inspection of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) starting from the 25th.
According to Seo-gu on the 21st, this inspection has been initiated to ensure a prompt response at the scene in emergency situations such as sudden cardiac arrest.
The inspection team will, by the end of June, examine 440 AEDs installed at 180 mandatory facilities and 260 non-mandatory facilities. The inspection will cover the condition of the main unit, accessories, and storage case, the expiration dates of patches and batteries, and the presence of guidance signage, among other management aspects. If any violations are found, appropriate measures will be taken.
To create jobs for the elderly, the inspection team consists of 20 participants from the Senior Club job project, divided into 10 teams. On the 19th, they received training on inspection procedures, safety precautions, AED operation, and emergency first aid, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Lee Sangyong, Head of the Health Administration Division, stated, "The AED is a very important device that saves precious lives in cases of sudden cardiac arrest," and added, "Through this inspection, we will ensure the devices are always operational so that they can be used effectively and promptly in emergencies."
Meanwhile, information on AED locations within the district can be found on the E-gen integrated website, the emergency medical information app, and the AED status page of the Seo-gu Public Health Center website, allowing residents to check the location of nearby devices.
