On the 21st, at a restaurant in Yeouido, Seoul, former lawmaker Park met with Leader Lee and said, "Although the general election was a harsh memory, I am glad we can now meet with smiling faces."
Former lawmaker Park said, "When I give lectures, I talk about three kinds of courage politicians need: the courage to restrain one's own authority, the courage to say 'No' when something is desired by supporters but does not benefit the community, and the courage to reach out for the greater good."
He added, "Many thoughts came to my mind on the way here, but as I mentioned earlier, I believe the Democratic Party must serve the people's demands, unite for the future, and achieve victory."
Leader Lee responded immediately upon meeting former lawmaker Park, saying, "You have endured so much," and "Thank you for standing together even in difficult times."
Leader Lee said, "This is a grave situation. Politics is not a personal business. Park also has a role to play, and I hope you will take on a bigger role."
He continued, "I expected the Yoon Seok-yeol government might take extreme actions like martial law, but it is shocking that they did so without any formal requirements," and "What is even more shocking is that a political party claiming to do politics is complicit in acts that destroy the constitutional order."
Leader Lee evaluated, "I did not expect far-right forces to come out of online cafes and cause disturbances on the ground, nor did I expect political forces to join them. But since this has become a reality, we are in a serious crisis." He added, "Confusion is one thing, but overcoming this crisis is important. It seems there will be many tasks for former lawmaker Park."
Former lawmaker Park replied, "You have the most work to do, Leader. The party must unite and integrate to move toward national unity."
He further said, "There is a great concern that fascism could come to South Korea if things go wrong. To block this, the Democratic Party, the leader, and I all must play our roles."
