Hong Expresses Displeasure on Facebook Over Allegations Involving Myung
Fake Lawyers Spreading Lies Are Rampant
Attorney Yeo Tae-hyung, the lawyer of Myung Tae-gyun who is suspected of interfering with candidate selection, claimed that there is a conversation between Myung and Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo on Myung's golden phone (key evidence phone), prompting Mayor Hong to express his displeasure once again.
On the 21st, Mayor Hong wrote on Facebook, "As election season approaches, all kinds of trash are running rampant," adding, "With the mass production of lawyers, fake lawyers who appear on broadcasts spreading lies on behalf of criminals are rampant."
He continued, "Did the British media once call old Korean democracy a 'rose blooming from a pile of garbage'?" and added, "The media has become a world where, due to the race for breaking news, reports are made indiscriminately without fact-checking, and a strange world where fake lives and criminals are being glorified."
He went on, "During the rainy season, all kinds of trash float down the Han River, but when the sun comes out, that trash is thoroughly cleaned up," and said, "No matter how much this trash runs rampant, I always walk my path confidently, looking straight ahead as usual."
Attorney Yeo, representing Myung, claimed on the previous day’s CBS radio program 'Park Jae-hong's One-on-One Battle' that "there are parts we confirmed during the forensic process of the golden phone." Mayor Hong clearly assumed that such content would not be in the KakaoTalk messages and responded accordingly, but Yeo emphasized that there are circumstances contradicting that statement.
Attorney Yeo said, "There is also content of conversations exchanged," and mentioned that the time of the conversation was around mid-2023.
On the 6th, Mayor Hong raised his voice, saying, "There will not be a single call or KakaoTalk message on Myung Tae-gyun’s golden phone." However, on the 18th, he said, "Check if my voice or messages are on the golden phone. I remember there will be exactly one," adding, "After the regime change, since they were boasting about Kim Geon-hee as a key figure, I received a call and, finding it unpleasant, just told them to do well."
