The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters will strengthen fire safety education for migrant workers from March to May, coinciding with the spring farming season.
On the 21st, the Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced plans to focus on enhancing fire prevention activities for residential vinyl greenhouses and container accommodations, where migrant workers mainly reside, and to conduct fire safety education.

The main education contents include ▲ conducting basic fire facility inspections and on-site safety guidance related to migrant worker accommodations led by the fire station chief at least once a week ▲ fire safety education for employers and migrant workers on fire case dissemination and initial response methods ▲ dust removal from distribution boards ▲ encouraging the installation of fire extinguishing equipment for small spaces.
Jo Sun-ho, head of the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, stated, "Since the living spaces of migrant workers are vulnerable to fire during the farming season, effective safety measures are necessary," and urged, "Employers and workers should comply with safety rules together and actively cooperate in maintaining and managing fire facilities."
Meanwhile, according to the Fire and Disaster Headquarters, there have been a total of 375 residential vinyl greenhouse fires in the past five years, with fire fatalities 8.3 times higher than the overall fire incidents, highlighting the urgent need to ensure the safety of migrant workers.
