From 30 Shops in 2016 to 105 Shops
Leading the Spread of Filial Piety Culture in the Community
Ulsan Ulju-gun's 'Ulju Hyo (孝) Hairshop' project, which is being implemented, is celebrating its 10th year this year with active participation from local beauty salons, playing a significant role in spreading the culture of filial piety in the community.
Since 2016, Ulju-gun has been operating the 'Ulju Hyo Hairshop' project for 10 years to reduce the economic burden of beauty services for local seniors and to promote a culture of respect for the elderly.
At the beginning of the project, 30 local beauty salons participated, but the number of participating shops has steadily increased, and now the scale has expanded more than threefold to a total of 105 shops.
At Ulju Hyo Hairshop, any senior aged 70 or older residing in Ulju-gun can receive beauty services at a 10?50% discounted rate by presenting their ID.
Ulju-gun plans to distribute exclusive plaques and price information boards for Hyo Hairshop to participating shops and actively promote the project using senior centers, welfare centers for the elderly, and apartment management offices.
Also, at the end of the year, shops with outstanding performance will be selected to receive the Ulju-gun Mayor’s Commendation, encouraging a continuous culture of sharing together with the local community.
An official from Ulju-gun said, “The reason we have been able to steadily continue the ‘Ulju Hyo Hairshop’ project for 10 years is thanks to the active participation of local beauty salons and seniors,” adding, “We will continue to further spread the beautiful culture of filial piety shared by the community.”
