'Pet Dog Moving Care Shelter' to Open from the 24th of This Month
The district office is stepping in to ensure residents can safely leave their pet dogs when moving. Seodaemun-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Seongheon) announced on the 21st that starting from the 24th of this month, it will operate a "Pet Dog Moving Care Shelter" within the "Seodaemun Naepumae (愛) Center" (333 Moraenae-ro).
Residents moving within Seodaemun-gu or new household members can use the service free of charge on the moving day. However, the pet dog must not exhibit aggression toward people or other dogs and must be registered with animal registration and rabies vaccination completed. Dogs suffering from contagious diseases, pregnant dogs, or dogs in heat are restricted from using the service.
On the moving day, the entrusted pet dogs will enjoy various activities in the indoor playground and rooftop playground within the center, safely cared for by professional trainers. Additionally, photos will be taken and sent to the owners so they can check on their pets. Those wishing to use the service can visit the "Seodaemun Naepumae Center" with their pet dog for consultation and application.
District Mayor Lee Seongheon said, "We operate the care shelter for the convenience of residents and the safety of their pet dogs," adding, "We will continue to promote various projects for a happy Seodaemun-gu where pets and people coexist."
Opened in April last year, the "Seodaemun Naepumae Center" is a comprehensive pet welfare space that conducts rescue and protection of abandoned animals, supports pet adoption, and provides education and counseling to spread proper pet culture. It is directly operated by Seodaemun-gu, with operating hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays, and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends and public holidays.
