On the 21st, Gangnam-gu announced that this year, together with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education and Seoul City, it will provide enrollment preparation funds to 15,564 new elementary, middle, and high school students in the district. Considering that a significant number of students attend schools in other regions, the district will provide additional support using its own budget.
The support funds are 200,000 KRW for elementary school freshmen and 300,000 KRW for middle and high school freshmen, provided as Zero Pay points. Parents and students who apply will receive a gift certificate (PIN number) via Zero Pay point notification, which can be registered and used in the ‘Beeple Pay’ app. The points can be used at Zero Pay affiliated stores to purchase items necessary for school enrollment such as clothing, bags, shoes, books, stationery, and electronic devices.
The application period is from the 24th of this month until October 30th of this year. Applications can be made on the district office website’s ‘Enrollment Preparation Fund Application’ page. Previously, applicants had to submit related documents in person, but starting this year, the process has been improved for convenience by linking with the district office system to simplify the submission of documents such as family registers. Zero Pay points will be granted within 15 days after the application.
However, if the applicant has already received similar enrollment support funds from other cities or provinces, duplicate payments will not be made. If the student enrolls in a school located in Seoul, support will be provided separately by the respective school.
District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong said, “We have expanded support so that Gangnam-gu students can receive enrollment preparation fund benefits without discrimination, whether their school is in Seoul or another region. We hope this support will help alleviate the financial burden on parents ahead of the new school term.”
