Continuing the Campaign with UNICEF for 31 Years
Over 16.5 Billion KRW Raised in Total
On the 20th, Asiana Airlines announced that it conducted a volunteer activity at its headquarters in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, sorting foreign currency collected onboard by denomination and amount together with 30 employees' children.
This volunteer activity is part of the 'Love In-Flight Coin Collection Campaign.' Asiana Airlines signed an agreement with the UNICEF Korea Committee in 1994 and has continued the campaign for 31 years. The campaign collects foreign coins brought back from overseas trips to support children in vulnerable regions worldwide. The in-house volunteer club 'OZ UNICEF' flight attendants have regularly carried out the sorting work.
The funds raised are used as resources for various projects supporting children in vulnerable areas of Africa and Asia, including ▲providing nutritional meals for malnourished children ▲supporting water supply and sanitation health activities ▲building schools for children ▲supporting early childhood development. The cumulative amount raised has surpassed 16.5 billion KRW.
Osuan, the daughter of Park Su-yeon, the office manager who has been active in OZ UNICEF for 22 years, said, "I am happy to participate directly in the work my mother has volunteered for a long time," adding, "I feel joyful to be able to help friends in other countries."
