Additionally, Gijang-gun was recognized for its advanced resident-tailored welfare services, including ▲Busan’s first ‘Single-Person Household Dedicated Team Operation’ ▲the ‘Gijang-gun Resident Health Promotion Project,’ which supports precise medical examination costs for six major cancers and cerebrovascular diseases ▲a ‘Survey’ to identify and support socially isolated households ▲operation of the 365 Together Care Center ▲the Gijang-type Integrated Care Project ▲and the crisis household reporting reward support project, leading to its final selection as the winner in the ‘Marine Tourism Welfare City’ category.
Jeong Jong-bok, Governor of Gijang-gun, said, “I feel great pride that Gijang-gun’s advanced policies, such as bold investment in tourism resource development and the introduction of welfare services ahead of time for residents, have been recognized for their achievements. We will actively communicate with residents and carry out administration that residents can truly feel.”
Gijang-gun is home to the ‘Osiria Tourism Complex,’ a 3.66 million square meter area where shopping, relaxation, and leisure can be enjoyed in one place, making it a premium resort city that domestic and international tourists want to visit. It has also built excellent baseball infrastructure, including the country’s largest baseball theme park, the ‘Gijang-Hyundai Dream Ballpark,’ and has gained international fame as a baseball city by hosting the ‘World Youth Baseball Championship’ in 2019.
Starting this year, Gijang-gun plans to continuously develop tourism resources by integrating local festivals to foster representative festivals, while also actively expanding welfare benefits to a wider range of social classes by advancing the construction of the Jeonggwan Comprehensive Social Welfare Center and the Veterans Hall.
