Police Analyze Perpetrator Teacher's Mobile Phone and Computer

A man in his 40s, teacher Myung, who killed an elementary school student in Daejeon, was found to have searched online for the murder weapon and past murder case articles before the crime.

On the 18th, the dedicated investigation team of the Daejeon Police Agency announced that after analyzing Myung's personal mobile phone and computer, they confirmed part of the process in which he prepared for the crime by searching for articles on past murder cases and the weapon (murder tool) on the internet.

The investigation team is reportedly focusing on the possibility of a premeditated crime. The police have secured evidence regarding Myung's preparation of the murder weapon, testimonies from related parties, and call records, and plan to concentrate on revealing the specific motive behind the crime.

The police completed forensic analysis on Myung's personal mobile phone, one home computer, and three school computers, and are currently compiling information from each electronic device to analyze the correlation before and after the crime.

Myung is currently stabilizing in the intensive care unit after surgery, delaying direct face-to-face interrogation. It is reported that he is wearing an oxygen mask and is having difficulty communicating.

Myung, who self-inflicted wounds to his neck immediately after the crime, underwent venous suturing surgery. When the police attempted a face-to-face interrogation last week, the investigation was halted again due to a rise in his blood pressure.

Myung is accused of stabbing and killing 8-year-old Kim Haneul at an elementary school in Seo-gu, Daejeon, on the 10th. According to the Daejeon police and fire authorities, around 6 p.m. that day, Kim, who was stabbed, and Myung, the school teacher who attempted self-harm, were found on the second floor of an elementary school building in Gwanjeo-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon. Myung, who injured his wrist and neck, was transported to the hospital for surgery and confessed to his crime before the operation.
