Providing Safe Childcare Services
On the 18th, Yangsan City in Gyeongnam conducted child abuse prevention education for 134 childcare workers at the Small Theater of Yangsan Culture and Arts Center.
This education was carried out as part of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family's intensive child abuse prevention period to prevent the recurrence of cases similar to recent child abuse incidents involving childcare workers.
The education was conducted by Son Junhyuk, director of the Yangsan Child Protection Agency. To raise awareness of the seriousness of child abuse, the session included education on understanding child abuse, its aftereffects, protection procedures for abused children, and a discussion on child abuse cases.
Lee Seongmi, head of the Women and Youth Division, stated, “Through this education, we expect childcare workers to heighten their awareness of child abuse and strengthen their expertise to provide safe childcare services. We will continue to prevent child abuse by childcare workers and provide safe care services through ongoing education and monitoring.”
The childcare support project provides visiting care services by childcare workers to children under 12 years old in families experiencing childcare gaps due to reasons such as both parents working. Government support applications can be made by visiting the Eup, Myeon, Dong administrative welfare centers or through the Bokjiro website.
