Grand Prizes in Regional Innovation and Economic Leadership,
Excellence Award in Alley Economy
Ulju-gun, Ulsan, won awards in three categories at the '2024 Korea Regional Economy Awards.'
The Korea Regional Economy Awards are researched and evaluated by the Korean Regional Economy Association and the Korea Regional Economy Research Institute, assessing the overall regional economic performance of local governments.
This year's Regional Economy Awards comprehensively evaluated the regional economic performance of 243 local governments nationwide last year across eight categories.
As a result of the evaluation, Ulju-gun received the Grand Prize in the Regional Innovation and Economic Leadership categories, and the Excellence Award in the Alley Economy category.
Ulju-gun solidified its foundation for regional innovation by establishing industrial clusters and securing innovation potential. It received high marks in the Economic Leadership category through proactive labor and employment policies and efficient management of its own finances. Additionally, it was recognized for its multifaceted efforts to revitalize the alley economy, including support for small business owners, expanding financial accessibility, and improving youth employment rates.
County Governor Lee Soon-geol said, "With this award, Ulju-gun has established itself as a local government that has successfully implemented balanced economic policies in various areas such as regional innovation, economic leadership, and alley economy. We will continue to strive to open a new future for the regional economy through ongoing innovation and growth."
