On the afternoon of the 17th (local time), an aircraft carrying 80 people overturned and flipped over while landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada, resulting in at least 15 injuries.

According to foreign media reports including Reuters and CNN, a Delta Air Lines subsidiary Endeavor Air passenger plane (Flight 4819) departing from Minneapolis, USA, had an accident while landing on a runway at Toronto Airport partially covered with snow at 2:45 PM that day. CNN reported that all 80 people on board (76 passengers and 4 crew members) evacuated safely, but at least 15 were injured, with 2 in critical condition.

The cause of the accident has not yet been determined, but the AP News reported that weather conditions may have played a role. According to Environment Canada, at the time of the accident, the airport was experiencing a heavy snowstorm with winds blowing at 51 km/h (32 mph), with gusts reaching up to 65 km/h (40 mph). Visibility was about 6 miles (approximately 10 km) at the time of the accident, and the temperature was around -8.6 degrees Celsius (16.5°F).

Immediately after the accident, fire trucks sprayed water on the overturned aircraft to extinguish any fire, and passengers and crew quickly evacuated from the flipped plane. Pearson Airport stated on X (formerly Twitter) that "emergency response teams are in operation" and "the status of all passengers and crew has been confirmed."

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement that the investigation into this accident is being led by the Canadian Transportation Safety Board (TSB), and updates will be provided later. The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) also dispatched a team to support the Canadian investigation.

In the past month, there have been four consecutive aviation accidents in North America, including this one. On the 29th of last month, a collision between a passenger plane and a military helicopter near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport resulted in a crash that killed a total of 67 people. On the 31st of the same month, a medical transport aircraft carrying six people crashed in downtown Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, killing all seven on board. On the 7th, an aircraft crash in Alaska resulted in 10 fatalities.
