The Dream Dance Troupe operation project is a dance cultural arts education program that began as a pilot project in 2022.

Hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service, this project aims to help children and adolescents express their stories through dance, create choreography, and grow together. Notably, starting this year, the Dream Dance Troupe has expanded to include the Dream Orchestra and Dream Theater, establishing itself as the ‘Dream Arts Troupe’ project.

Yeongdeok’s ‘Dream Dance Troupe’ project began operations in 2023 and is now in its third year. From January 15 to 24, new members were recruited among children and adolescents in Yeongdeok, resulting in 9 new members joining the existing 17. This year, an in-depth interview process was introduced during recruitment to ensure a more systematic selection process.

The orientation held on the 15th was attended by new and existing members and their guardians, providing an opportunity to share the operational direction and implementation plans of the ‘Dream Dance Troupe Yeongdeok.’

Key topics included introductions of participating personnel, an annual schedule briefing, and a Q&A session about the overall project. Additionally, discussions were held on enacting ordinances for local government independence and expanding the regional base. The orientation concluded with the election of a representative guardian.

Attending guardians commented, “This was a meaningful occasion that made us realize the great effort the foundation, Director Kim Pyeongsu, and the teaching staff are putting into operating the ‘Dream Dance Troupe Yeongdeok.’ It was a valuable time to learn in detail about the classes and activities the children participate in, and we hope they will continue to work diligently for the region and the children.”

Dance Director Kim Pyeongsu stated, “The Dream Dance Troupe project can only be sustained through the combined efforts of the operating organization, teaching staff, participants, guardians, local government officials, and community members. This orientation was a meaningful time to share the direction of ‘Dream Dance Troupe Yeongdeok’ and exchange opinions. We will do our best to establish it as the region’s representative youth arts troupe.” He added, “We plan to maintain active communication through regular meetings with guardians, so we ask for your continued interest and participation.”
