Hamyang-gun Launches Full-Scale Mechanization Project at Jusanji Reservoir

Significant Improvement in Agricultural Productivity and Efficiency Expected

On the 18th, Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam announced that it will actively promote the '2025 Consistent Mechanization Project for Major Production Areas,' aimed at increasing agricultural productivity and reducing labor.

This project focuses on increasing the mechanization rate of onions, Hamyang-gun's representative crop, to reduce the workload of farmers and address issues such as labor shortages in rural areas, aging population, and rising management costs due to increased labor expenses.

Now in its fourth year, the Consistent Mechanization Project for Major Production Areas has led Hamyang-gun to pioneer the mechanization model for the entire onion production process and significantly contributed to improving the mechanization rate of field crops.

In 2025, four councils will be formed to greatly expand the number of participating mechanized farms and the cultivated area, accelerating agricultural modernization even further.

A Hamyang-gun official stated, “We will do our best to create a better agricultural environment through mechanization so that the sweat and dedication of farmers can lead to fruitful results.”

The Consistent Mechanization Project for Major Production Areas, initiated in 2022 with support from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, is advancing agricultural modernization through various programs such as the introduction of mechanized seedling technology, expansion of agricultural machinery rental, and mechanized farming technology education.

This project also actively encourages the participation of young farmers, greatly contributing to the creation of a sustainable agricultural environment.
