Resolving Nutritional Imbalances Among Vulnerable Groups
Improving Dietary Habits
Jindo County in Jeonnam Province (Governor Kim Heesu) announced on the 17th that it will implement the 'Agri-food Voucher Support Project' this year for low-income and vulnerable groups.
The Agri-food Voucher Support Project is a program that provides voucher cards for purchasing seven categories of products (domestic fruits, vegetables, white milk, fresh eggs, meat, grains, and tofu products) to enhance food accessibility and support nutritional supplementation for low-income and vulnerable groups.
The voucher card provides different amounts depending on the number of household members: 40,000 KRW per month for single-person households, 65,000 KRW for two-person households, and 83,000 KRW for three-person households. The card can be used at local Nonghyup Hanaro Mart, CU, GS25, GS The Fresh, and local food direct stores.
The county has secured a total project budget of 64 million KRW, including 32 million KRW from the national government, and plans to support about 70 households with pregnant women, infants, or children among livelihood benefit households with an income below 32% of the median income for ten months from next month until December.
Eligible recipients for the Agri-food Voucher Support Project can apply for card issuance starting from the 17th by visiting township offices, the Agri-food Voucher website, or by phone.
Governor Kim Heesu stated, "Through the Agri-food Voucher Support Project, we will do our best to resolve nutritional imbalances among vulnerable groups, improve dietary habits, and establish a virtuous cycle system for local food, thereby promoting agricultural product consumption and laying the foundation for sustainable agriculture and rural communities."
