On the afternoon of the 17th, Hongseong County in Chungnam announced that it held a graduation ceremony for the Literacy Education Program Recognizing Elementary School Equivalency at the Lifelong Learning Center, with six individuals receiving elementary school equivalency certification.
The elementary school equivalency literacy education program is operated by the Hongseong County Lifelong Learning Center to realize the learning aspirations of residents who were unable to receive formal education and to provide equal educational opportunities.
At the graduation ceremony, six residents who consistently pursued their studies at the Lifelong Learning Center over the past three years and completed the elementary curriculum celebrated their graduation.
The ceremony, attended by graduates, current students, families, and village residents, became even more meaningful as current students, graduates, and homeroom teachers shared blessings for each other's futures, strengthening the bonds between seniors and juniors, and between teachers and students.
The graduates plan to continue their studies by enrolling in the preparatory class for secondary school equivalency literacy education or at institutions offering secondary school equivalency literacy education.
Lee Yongrok, the mayor of Hongseong County, encouraged the graduates by saying, "Through literacy, you can rediscover your lost self over the years and become the protagonist of your own life. We will continue to provide full support for your journey."
Meanwhile, since 2015, Hongseong County has enabled a total of 76 individuals to obtain elementary school equivalency through this program, and since 2018, it has supported Naepo Adult School, which offers the secondary school equivalency program, helping 40 individuals achieve middle school equivalency.
