Support for 1,150 vehicles
Iksan City in North Jeolla Province will invest a total of 3.3 billion KRW this year to implement the 'On-road Vehicle Emission Reduction Project.'
According to the city on the 17th, this project has been prepared to reduce air pollutants emitted from old vehicles and to create a pleasant air quality environment.
The city plans to support a total of 1,150 vehicles, including 1,140 for early scrapping and 10 for the installation of emission reduction devices.
The targets eligible for early scrapping support are: ▲Grade 4 diesel vehicles for emissions ▲Grade 5 vehicles for emissions (all fuel types) ▲Type 3 construction machinery for road use subject to emission standards before August 31, 2009 ▲Forklifts and excavators manufactured before 2004.
In the case of Grade 5 diesel vehicles for emissions, support for the installation of emission reduction devices may be provided instead of early scrapping, if necessary.
The application period is until the 7th of next month, and applications can be submitted online via text message or through the automobile emission grade system website.
It is also possible to apply in person at the city's Environmental Policy Division or by registered mail. More detailed information can be found on the Iksan City website.
A city official said, "From this year, we have expanded the eligibility for support to promote the early scrapping of old vehicles," and added, "As the basic support rate for Grade 5 vehicles under 3.5 tons of gross weight has been raised to 100%, we ask for the active interest and participation of citizens."
Meanwhile, the city has supported 12,775 vehicles since 2017.
