The Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 17th that it conducted on-site promotional activities in Taiwan from the 13th to the 14th to stabilize the inbound tourism market to Korea.
Taiwan secured its position as the third largest inbound tourism market to Korea last year by recording the highest number of visitors ever. Approximately 1.47 million Taiwanese tourists visited Korea last year, an increase of more than 53% compared to the previous year, easily surpassing the previous record of 1.26 million in 2019.
Additionally, it was confirmed that one out of every two Taiwanese visitors last year used regional airports in Korea, indicating a high interest in regional travel within Korea. Taiwanese visitors ranked first in the number of passengers using regional international airports such as Gimhae, Daegu, and Cheongju.
Seo Young-chung, Acting President of the Korea Tourism Organization, actively conducted promotional activities targeting major travel agencies with large MICE groups locally and sought measures for stable growth of the aviation industry and the inbound tourism market. He also strengthened cooperation with related organizations through meetings with officials from the Taiwan Tourism Association and the Taiwan Tourism Bureau. A roundtable meeting was held with key local travel agencies specializing in Korean inbound tourism products to introduce the Organization’s special attraction projects and discuss ways to revitalize inbound tourism.
Acting President Seo stated, "The Organization will continue to attract corporate incentive groups and others to ensure stable growth of the Taiwanese inbound market. Additionally, for individual tourists who prefer K-Culture, we will carry out various projects to build a positive image of Korea by promoting comfortable everyday travel and attractive regional content."
Meanwhile, following this on-site sales activity, the Organization plans to begin product development through an inbound tourism inspection tour with travel industry representatives in the Taichung area in March. In April, a 'B2B Tourism Content Festival' introducing new inbound tourism content will be held in Taipei, and in May, a 'K-Tourism Roadshow' will be held in Kaohsiung. The Organization plans to devote full efforts to intensive promotional activities for inbound tourism in the first half of the year to ensure continuous growth of the inbound tourism market.
