"Improved Connectivity with City Urban Planning Road and National Route 45"
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 17th that it has requested Gyeonggi Province to install a ramp connecting the 'Yongin-Gwangju Expressway,' which is being promoted as a private investment project, with the 'Yongin Urban Planning Road Jung 1-1 Line' that the city plans to open.
The 'Yongin Urban Planning Road Jung 1-1 Line' is a road connecting National Route 45 and the newly planned National Road 57 from east to west. It is a road being established according to the infrastructure plan for the 'International Logistics 4.0 Logistics Complex' under development in Gorim-dong, Cheoin-gu.
The city explained that if a ramp connecting the two roads is installed, smooth connections will be possible between the Yongin-Gwangju Expressway, Jung 1-1 Line, Bopyeong 2 District, National Route 45, and the Yeongdong Expressway Yongin IC.
In particular, the city expects that the installation of the connecting ramp will not only improve connectivity with nearby cities such as Anseong, Pyeongtaek, Gwangju, and Seongnam but also enhance accessibility to the 'Yongin Advanced System Semiconductor Cluster National Industrial Complex' being developed in Idong and Namsa-eup.
The 'Yongin-Gwangju Expressway' is a 17.3 km long private road connecting Gorim-dong, Cheoin-gu, Yongin, and Taejae Hill in Sinhyeon-dong, Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province. It has passed the feasibility study by the Korea Development Institute and the strategic environmental impact assessment, and is scheduled to open in 2032. This road will connect with National Road 57 between Mapyeong Interchange and Gorim-dong, which is scheduled to open in 2029.
A city official stated, "At the time of planning National Road 57 and Jung 1-1 Line, the Yongin-Gwangju Expressway project was not confirmed, so the plan to install a connecting ramp could not be reflected," adding, "We have continuously requested the province to install the connecting ramp after the road project plan was finalized."
Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin, said, "If the ramp we proposed is installed, the efficiency of major roads will increase," and added, "In particular, National Road 57 connects to National Routes 43 and 42, and National Road 23, which will also expand Yongin's internal circulation road network."
