Baristas and Kitchen Assistants with Developmental Disabilities
Dining Brand at a Standard Workplace for People with Disabilities
OCI Dream, a standard workplace for people with disabilities under the OCI Group, announced on the 17th the grand opening of the healthy food cafe dining 'Colleague' on the first floor of the OCI Building in Sogong-dong, Seoul.
'Colleague' means a space where people with and without disabilities work together as colleagues. It is a dining brand first launched by OCI Dream to provide customers with a healthy and hearty meal. At Colleague, a total of seven people with developmental disabilities work alongside non-disabled colleagues as baristas and kitchen assistants.
Colleague opened on the 14th and upgraded the first-floor dining space, previously operated as a cafe, into a 150-seat dining restaurant using fresh ingredients, allowing customers to enjoy meals and beverages in one space. Considering the characteristics of large office districts such as Seoul City Hall, Euljiro Entrance, and Myeongdong, the menu includes sandwiches and salads for nearby office workers to enjoy conveniently, as well as signature items like the Colleague burger, pasta, kale yuzu smoothie, and apple carrot juice.
The modern natural interior space, finished with full glass windows to highlight natural lighting, offers a relaxed dining experience for everyone. In spring and autumn, the outdoor terrace is perfect for enjoying meals and drinks while savoring the fresh breeze.
Established in 2019, OCI Dream currently provides quality jobs to over 30 people with moderate to severe disabilities across five business areas: office support, asset management, dining business, cultural business, and flower business.
Lee Ji-hyun, CEO of OCI Dream, stated, "Colleague is a space where a delicious meal leads to the positive impact of employing people with disabilities under the slogan 'eat well, do good.' We will continue to put more effort into developing job roles and expanding employment for people with disabilities so that they can work in a stable environment."
