On the 17th, Gwangju and Jeonnam will experience subzero morning temperatures and strong winds, continuing the cold snap known as "Kkotssaemchuwi."
From today through the day after tomorrow, temperatures in Gwangju and Jeonnam are expected to drop by about 5 to 10 degrees, with morning lows ranging from -4 to 0 degrees Celsius and daytime highs between 4 and 7 degrees Celsius.
This morning, the lowest temperatures are expected to be -4 degrees in Damyang and Gokseong; -3 degrees in Jangseong, Naju, Hwasun, Boseong, Jangheung, and Yeongam; -2 degrees in Yeonggwang, Gangjin, Goheung, Suncheon, and Gwangyang; -1 degree in Gwangju, Hampyeong, Muan, Haenam, and Yeosu; and 0 degrees in Mokpo, Shinan, Jindo, and Wando.
The highest daytime temperatures will be 7 degrees in Suncheon, Gwangyang, and Goheung; 6 degrees in Yeongam, Jangheung, Haenam, Gangjin, Wando, Yeosu, and Gurye; 5 degrees in Gwangju, Jangseong, Damyang, Gokseong, Hampyeong, Muan, Naju, Shinan, Hwasun, Boseong, Haenam, and Jindo; and 4 degrees in Yeonggwang and Mokpo, which is lower than the previous day.
Waves on the sea are expected to reach 1.5 to 3.5 meters in the West Sea and 1.5 to 2.5 meters in the South Sea. Fine and ultrafine dust levels will be "moderate" in the morning and improve to "good" in the afternoon.
An official from the Korea Meteorological Administration said, "Most areas in Gwangju and Jeonnam will experience strong winds with gusts of around 55 km/h (15 m/s), so please pay attention to facility management and safety accidents."
