Santa Fe and Ioniq 5N Named
Winners of Canadian Car of the Year Awards
Hyundai Motor Company has once again risen to the top position in the Canadian automotive market.
On the 16th, Hyundai announced that at the Canadian International AutoShow held in Toronto, Canada, the Santa Fe was selected as the '2025 Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year,' and the Ioniq 5N was named 'Electric Utility Vehicle of the Year.' The Canadian Car of the Year awards were given in four categories: passenger cars, utility vehicles, electric passenger cars, and electric utility vehicles, with Hyundai sweeping two categories simultaneously.
Earlier this year, the Canadian Automobile Journalists Association announced three finalists in each category, and after a fierce competition, the Santa Fe and Ioniq 5N were ultimately selected as winners, surpassing the Mazda CX-70 and Toyota Land Cruiser, and the Kia EV9 and Mazda CX-70 PHEV, respectively.
In particular, Hyundai has proven its high product competitiveness in the Canadian SUV market by winning the Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year award three times in the past four years, following the Tucson in 2022 and the Ioniq 5 in 2023.
The judging panel of the Canadian Automobile Journalists Association praised the Santa Fe for its excellent ergonomic design and sophisticated, intuitive infotainment system, while the Ioniq 5N was highly rated for its powerful 641-horsepower performance and sporty driving experience enabled by the N e-Shift feature.
A Hyundai official stated, "Sweeping two categories of Canadian Car of the Year with the Santa Fe and Ioniq 5N is a recognition of Hyundai’s outstanding product quality in the Canadian market," adding, "We will continue to perform well not only in the Canadian market but also globally through innovative and high-quality vehicles."
