Yangcheon-gu, 'Vehicle Access Road Damage Repair Agency' for Resident Safety

Faster Construction and Administrative Processing
for Sidewalks at Permitted Vehicle Entrances and Exits
Compared to Direct Restoration

Yangcheon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced on the 16th that it will improve the restoration process for damaged sidewalks at vehicle entrances and exits and will undertake the restoration work on behalf of the district starting next month to quickly repair damaged sidewalks and create a safe road environment.

Yangcheon-gu, 'Vehicle Access Road Damage Repair Agency' for Resident Safety Yangcheon-gu's Safe Design for Vehicle Entrances and Exits introduced to enhance pedestrian safety on vehicle access roads. Provided by Yangcheon-gu.

According to current laws such as the 'Road Act,' if damage occurs within the vehicle entrance and exit section, the permit holder who has obtained the road occupancy permit must restore it directly. In such cases, difficulties arise in selecting contractors, conducting market price surveys, and administrative procedures, or restoration periods are delayed, posing a latent risk of secondary safety accidents.

To resolve these issues, the district decided to improve the vehicle entrance and exit restoration procedures. The main point is that after the permit holder applies for restoration measures to the district and pre-pays the cost, the district will undertake the construction work on their behalf.

Since the district undertakes the construction, damaged parts can be restored quickly, and administrative matters that may arise during the completion process, such as supplementary items, can be handled promptly.

The construction agency application target is the permitted sections of vehicle entrances and exits within Yangcheon-gu. Access roads to side streets and non-permitted sections are excluded. The main construction work includes restoration of damaged or sunken sidewalk blocks and damaged curbstones. If the permit holder does not wish to use the agency service, they can restore it directly as before.

Through this improvement, the district expects to provide a one-stop service supporting administrative procedures for permit holders and to offer residents a safer and more pleasant road environment by quickly restoring damaged sidewalks.

Applications for restoration of damaged sidewalks at vehicle entrances and exits will be accepted starting from the 20th of next month. For detailed information, inquiries can be made to the Construction Management Division of Yangcheon-gu.

Mayor Lee Gi-jae said, “We will continue to prioritize the safety of residents and actively discover and promote measures to minimize their inconvenience.”
