Gwangjin-gu Eases Childcare Burden by Offering Free Rental of Safety Car Seats and First Birthday & Doljanchi Tables to Families with Infants and Toddlers
Families with Children Under Age 6 Living in the Area Can Apply at the Gwangjin-gu Childcare Comprehensive Support Center
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is operating a ‘free rental service for safety car seats and first birthday (Baekilsang) and Doljanchi tables’ for families with infants and toddlers.
The district is implementing a childcare product rental project to create a safe childcare environment and reduce the economic burden on parents.
The safety car seat rental project targets families with children under the age of 6 residing in the area and allows free use for 12 months from the rental date. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, but priority is given to persons with disabilities, basic livelihood security recipients, and single-parent families. A deposit of 30,000 KRW must be paid at the time of rental and will be refunded upon return.
The Baekilsang and Doljanchi tables are available for families with infants celebrating their 100th day or first birthday residing in the district and can be used for 5 days from the rental date. They include various decorative items such as banners, folding screens, tablecloths, and food stands. The Doljanchi table also provides traditional items for the Doljabi event, such as a judge’s gavel, microphone, and stethoscope.
The rental items are thoroughly managed, including immediate cleaning and disinfection after return to prepare for the next rental.
Residents wishing to rent can apply through the Gwangjin-gu Childcare Comprehensive Support Center website and the Gwangjin Toy Library on the 2nd floor of the Guui 1-dong Community Service Center.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “I hope that the rental of safety car seats and Baekilsang and Doljanchi tables will help reduce the childcare burden on parents, even if just a little.” He added, “We will continue to promote various policies to make Gwangjin-gu a great place to raise children.”
