Kim Kangwoo Returns to the Stage After 9 Years
Plays the Role of "Eric Moore" in "Red Fallen Leaves"
The play "Red Fallen Leaves," which premiered at the 42nd Seoul Theater Festival in 2021 and swept awards including the Excellence Award (Group Category), Acting Award (Park Wankyu), New Actor Award (Jang Seokhwan), and Stage Art Award (Shin Seungryeol), will be performed at the National Theater Daloreum Theater until March 1. This play has also received the Baeksang Arts Awards Male Actor Award in the theater category, the Ministerial Award at the Korea Theater Awards, and the Dong-A Theater Awards for Best Play and New Director Award.
"Red Fallen Leaves" is based on the novel of the same name by American author Thomas Cook. It is a mystery story depicting a disappearance case that occurred in a small American town.
The protagonist, Eric Moore, is a middle-aged man from an ordinary family. The play shows the process of Eric and his family being shaken after his son, Jimmy Moore, is identified as a prime suspect in the disappearance of the neighbor girl, Amy.
Actors Kim Kangwoo, Park Wankyu, and Ji Hyunjun play the role of Eric Moore, who investigates the truth behind the disappearance case. Kim Kangwoo appears in his second play after nine years since his theatrical debut in 2016's "Hamlet - The Play." Actors Lee Yujin, Jang Seokhwan, and Choi Jungwoo play the role of the son, Jimmy Moore.
Writer Kim Doyoung and director Lee Junwoo, who adapted the play, also received various theater awards for their 2019 premiere play "The Story of Wang Seogae" at the Namsan Arts Center Drama Center. "The Story of Wang Seogae" won the 57th Dong-A Theater Award for Best Play and Best Script, and was selected among the Best 7 Korean Theater Performances and the Best 3 Plays of the Year by the Korean Theater Critics Association.
